that rig isnt soo good.. look at how obvious the hook is in that picture, it stands out more than the bait iself. when fishin a pressured water the chances of catching with that set up is very unlikely thus a bait lingering mid-water is etremely unnatural. however saying that your approach has obviously had a lot of thought put into it and if it does put fish on the bank then well done mate. but for casting to showing fish, the best thing i have found to do is keep an eye on them until they decend in the water and cast a popped up bait in their general direction 2 inches from the bottom on an extremely simple bolt rig, and offer sinking freebies of the same size/flavour down towards your pop up one bait at a time, i usually give about 30 seconds to a minute before throwing the next bait down. nearly every time the carp will see the falling bait and follow it down. when it gets to the bottom you are almost certain to get a take. oh and lets not forget, if the fish doesnt follow your bait down whos to say another fat hungry carp wont find your bait on the bottom, after all that carp you can see could possibly be swimming around with many less visible carp a bit deeper down in the water. give it a go, you'll be suprised with the results i sure as hell was when i was showed how to do this
